Blackstone Management & Conuslting was issued a $44K matching fund contract to provide strategic and operational improvement assistance to a Massachusetts manufacturing firm severely impacted by import trade.

The client, a New England manufacturer of textile products with a significant export business and revenues previously reaching $80 million, was severely impacted by the events of 9/11 and the shift of furniture manufacturing to China.  Blackstone was engaged to develop and execute a plan to stem continuing operating losses, implement lean practices to drive efficiencies, and assist in reversing the declining trend in revenues.  The assignment includes the assumption of interm COO duties.

The New England Trade Adjustment Assistance Center (NETAAC) aids New England manufacturing companies that have been negatively impacted by import trade. Qualifying businesses receive financial assistance through a cost-sharing model that helps to fund business-building consulting projects. These projects can include marketing and positioning strategies, e-commerce, lean manufacturing implementation, and ISO compliance and registration initiatives

Funding is provided to NETAAC by the U.S. Economic Development Administration under the Department of Commerce through the national Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for Firms program. The program was developed to help companies negatively affected by import competition. (For a more information on NETACC detailed list click on the NETAAC Assistance link.)
